Colour Run Fun for a Cause

November 8, 2018  |  #Financial Planning

Northmead Public school

The Northmead Public School Oval was transformed into a rainbow plume recently, as students partook in a fun-filled fundraising colour run event.

Hundreds of children emerged from the bright haze, aglow with colour and laughter, in a lighthearted approach to raising funds and awareness towards environmental issues.

An initiative of the Northmead Public School P&C, organizer Heidi Jephtha explained that the goal of the event was to raise money for the purchase of water bottle refill and chilling stations for the school.

“Students can refill their bottles with cold water in summer and it removes the need to sell bottles of water at school, benefiting both the kids and the environment.”

Social conscious within the school community was high, with Ms Jephtha proud that that many teachers, parents and students were very passionate about protecting the environment.

“The school canteen has made many changes in the past few months to try to eliminate most of the plastic waste it generates, and the students have really embraced all the changes and want to find other ways in which they can make a difference.”

“These small practical changes have the potential to make a big difference if everyone plays their part.”

With over 400 students, ex-students and parents taking part in the run, she said the bursts of colour added extra excitement to the traditional fun run, leaving many students unrecognizable after the event.

“We had girls wearing tutus, families in matching superhero outfits and students with crazy hair – it was a really fun event and all the children got into the spirit of things,” Ms Jephtha laughed.

Equally, community-minded, Baulkham Hills financial planning firm, Invest Blue, did not hesitate in providing sponsorship for the event.

Invest Blue Marketing Manager, Lexi Glover said she was extremely impressed by the initiative and the students’ passion in reaching their goal.

“Our Credit Adviser, Carol O’Shea’s two sons attend this school and we immediately felt this fundraising cause was something genuinely worthwhile.”

“The students’ goal of having water bottle refill and chilling stations will have immediate and measurable benefits, and is an achievable project they can all be proud of,” Ms Glover believed.

“At Invest Blue it is important to us that we are able to contribute to our local communities.

“We look to support events that make a difference in people’s lives, help them to realise a goal or dream, and this event is a great example of that.”

Enabling the students’ to be one step closer to reaching their fundraising goal, and providing something with a long-lasting benefit to the children and the environment, was, according to Ms Glover, hugely rewarding for Invest Blue.

“We are really pleased to play a small part in helping the school raise funds for their students, and hope there was plenty of Napisan on hand afterwards!” Ms Glover laughed.
